Dear Leos, Leo-Lions and My Fellow Lions,
Our Multiple District Mid-Year Conference which was scheduled to
take place in the Republic of Suriname will now be held virtually from
the 10th – 14th November, 2021.
I am aware that with the roll-out of COVID-19 vaccination
programmes in our various territories many of us were looking
forward with much anticipation to our first face-to-face Multiple
District meeting in almost two years. Regrettably, due to escalating
COVID-19 cases and also the varying travel restrictions Council
decided to host a virtual conference.
Through their combined effort efforts our Mid-Year Conference
Planning Committee led by Lion Vincent Gordon from Suriname, the
MD Global Action Team and MD Leo Programme Committee have
planned an informative, educational and stimulating series activities.
We will commence the week of activities with our second Council of
Governors meeting on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. This will be
followed by our MYC Opening Ceremony on Friday, November 12,
2021 which will include a component focused on our host territory –
the Republic of Suriname. Board Appointee PID Lion Jerome
Thompson will deliver Opening Remarks.
On Saturday, November 13, 2021, we will continue our activities with
a series of workshops and informative presentations from Lions and
Leos and guest panellists.
Finally, on Sunday November 14, 2021 our Mid-Year Conference
Meeting will be held. Our business component will comprise reports
from your Council of Governors, a very motivational address by our
International Guest and updates on plans for MD Convention 2022.
This will be followed by colourful and dramatic cultural performances
from Suriname.
I urge you to embrace and attend all these activities and events as we continue to build our
camaraderie and capacity.
There are always costs associated with hosting of these events, however, our Council of
Governors has decided to waive registration fees for your participation in this Mid-Year
Conference. You will, however, be required to pre-register via a special link which will be
shared by the MD IT Committee.
Lions and Leos you will receive further details regarding this Mid-Year Conference as plans
progress.
I am looking forward to your full participation because we are “A Community of Lions and
Leos serving from the heart.
